The Mystery is Lord

Spiritual arrogance is illustrated in no better place than the belief that we can know God. Whether through a concept, a personal experience, or a savior. If we think we have a clue about God then we have lost the most vital aspect of It: the mystery. The ego hates mystery, shudders before the unknown; and does everything in its power to explain and blame. So much, that it is convinced that it can touch into some sort of absolute truth, and will toil tirelessly in the name of spiritual seeking in order to avoid the simple reality and transformative frontier of “not knowing.”-Atreya Thomas

Passion is not Indicative of Truth

Is it possible that we vigorously spend our whole life looking for something that just does not exist? Does passion equate to truth? If a person for 10, 20, 30 years searches the earth for the Holy Grail and when speaking to them, they are very passionate and convincing; does that give credibility to the existence of this Grail? Passion is not indicative of truth. What if it is the very mystery that is holy? When the mind says “I truly don’t know, and I’m not going to impose a mental construct on it.” What if that is the holiest of holy’s because it is there that we stand on a frontier. The ego says this frontier is threatening and so shies away, or it says it is wonderful and filled with new adventure and makes it into another pleasurable sought after experience; but It is neither.Rather, it is the apex where limitation may be shattered, and perhaps the brain itself will undergo a transformation as it becomes saturated with the Unknown. -Atreya Thomas

The Ego's Core Wound

At the very core of the ego there is a deep seeded resentment even rage towards the transient nature of life. This resentment is the life blood of the ego, the self preservation mechanism, the entitlement, the cause of violence, anxiety, and division among all brothers and sisters. We are not special, unique, or entitled to anything. Rather, submit and be quiet to the Living Truth all around you and end this war on Reality.-Atreya Thomas

Order and Chaos

There is a reality that is orderly and there is a reality that is chaos. They cannot be reconciled; so we must choose for ourselves. Following second hand knowledge or some complex ideology only creates a mechanical human being. An inauthentic robot that conforms to the pressure of the masses while seeking to imitate an ideal. This ideal destroys our uniqueness and deflates any chance for growth. This is a disorderly life with very little value. On the other hand, if we can free our self through concentrated effort from the bondages of all that stands to shape us, mold our minds through fear of punishment and pain, or the reward of pleasure and an advantageous position; then we stand a chance at uncovering the orderly and perfect principle within our very own heart. This principal is natural, perfect and the only thing that is truly worth seeking. Will we wait for someone else to give a mere shadow of this truth with more fancy words and sentimental poetry? We cannot touch into reality wholly and completely if we are not free from the illusions that surround it. We must be strong and concentrated in our purpose. Strict and disciplined about staying present here, now where order exists and never exiting into the altered states of thought. We must do away with this sentimentality that we have for our own illusions and enter the place of no-pity. How can we truly know love, peace and the order of reality if we are tethered to the conditionings of the mind? How is there freedom when we feel sorry and sympathize with the very thing that seeks to bind us!-Atreya Thomas

Do Not Forget to Dream

We are not obligated to impose upon our experience. In other words, there is always a lot of activity going on in our lives with a whole range of causes and effects etc. We are obligated to accept what life immediately presents; but we are not obligated to impose a definition, rule, judgment, or a complex ideology to control it. We can, if we feel it is appropriate, but we do not have to; and all too often out of sheer habit our impulse to manipulate life, define it, or “figure it out” causes us suffering. When things seem a bit overwhelming in the waking state, close your eyes and dream a little and experience the dream state for a second. Do not be so invested in this one state of body activity, which makes us inadvertently hyper vigilant to every little pain and discrepancy. This vigilance robs us of the creativity of the dream state and the peace of the deep sleep state. -Atreya Thomas

The Cause is not the Cure

Realizing the cause of a disease does not cure it. Likewise, seeing the ego as unreal, false, taking a passive approach by just “not getting involved” etc, does not heal it, but is only a willful denial. Convincing oneself that the disease is sacred and all the ego’s feelings are sacred is delusional as well. Rather, medicine must be applied. The remedy is grace alone which mutates the will of ego into the will of the Universe. Therefore, embody your life, wear the ego and then offer it all to this grace in loving devotion, so that you may be transformed and become One.-Atreya Thomas

Poised and Ready

Can we be a part of life without trying to control it? Not asleep, not dreaming, and not vigilant to our desires; but standing poised as Intense Unmanifested Awareness? Ready, serving, and striking the moment with loving precision.-Atreya Thomas
