The Soldier Synopsis
Jackal, the main character, is a former German soldier. He is a person of misfortune, swept up in war against his will and having to change sides multiple times. Coincidentally, Jackal meets Marie-Louise, a Jewish girl who has a secret. She holds within her the evil spirit of the Blood Demon, the most powerful martial arts wielder in history. Though the two first meet as enemies, they become allies through their shared desire of leaving Berlin, and working to flee to Argentina together. But in their path stands a modernized group of martial arts experts. A group completely westernized without a trace of marital arts’ eastern heritage.
In the process of avoiding this group and escaping Berlin, Jackal and Marie-Louise strike up an alliance with soldiers in the Soviet army, who have special powers and are also enemies of this martial arts group. Composed of figures of traditional western lore, such as witches, vampires and werewolves, these people were once defeated by the martial arts group and driven to Siberia, where they waited under the protection of the Soviets for a chance for revenge. Jackal, who began working due to their common enemy, soon discovers that they cannot be trusted.
Amidst this, the martial arts group sends out powerful presences and warlords to achieve their goal. These powerful people drive Jackal and Marie-Louise into peril multiple times. Backed into a corner and faced with heated battles, Jackal discovers that he possesses a miraculous power he never knew he had, which soon sets him in the crosshairs of the Blood Demon within Marie-Louise.
The Blood Demon is an evil spirit that has no physical form, latching onto one person after another, constantly searching for a stronger body to carry out its revenge on the world. Residing within Marie-Louise, the Blood Demon begins setting its sights on Jackal’s body and twists the situation into a complicated and convoluted mess.
In order for one to see if Jackal, who was once, called the ‘War Devil’ during the World War II for his powerful strength and might was able to safely get to Argentina, one will only know where his story will end, by reading the last page of the novel.
