I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until recently that it just seemed to click. I've had stories locked away, but suddenly, and unexpectedly, they now need to get out. I completed the first draft of "The Devil's Lieutenant" in just two months, and that was as a result of writing when I had the opportunity to do so. My 8-5 job and family still came first. I look forward to the day when I can be a full time writer who can take my children to school, pick them up and chauffeur them to various activities, with a healthy dose of writing in between. I believe that day might be right around the corner.

Whom do you contend uses the semi-colon incorrectly? It is a versatile form of punctuation, as evidenced by our built-in grammar software on our computers. I've used it and gotten the green highlight, whereby I immediately pulled out my "Writers Inc." book for reference only to find that it could be used or not without compromising the integrity of the sentence.

It is versatile indeed, as you mentioned, and no one can really argue that it can or can't just as easily be replaced by a period (as you've also alluded to). My take on it being used incorrectly, is when the two ideas or independent clauses, have no bearing on one another. But what is most important is that regardless, it's still winking at you! ;)

Shervin Jamali I am looking for reviewers for my new novella, "The Devil's Lieutenant," a dark supernatural fantasy, where a man is forced to journey to the depths of Hell to rescue his family, with Satan as the puppet master pulling his strings.

It's been out a little over two weeks now and has received eleven 5 star ratings thus far. Be warned: it is a dark tale, with graphic violence and profanity. If anyone is interested, I will gladly send them a copy.
