Beautifully and creatively written. The latter part is all about her drug addiction and recovery. And the ending was abrupt and felt as if she neglected to write any sort of cohesive ending. The story just stopped.

Some wonderful stories, not just set in Dublin but Spain and Argentina as well. Some less interesting ones as well.

I read 65% of this book and then put it down. I liked it initially but it just became a meandering mix of stories and long descriptions that didn't need to be there. I got tired of it. Lost interest in the protagonist. ...more

This one by Grisham is okay. But he has a plodding style that got me bored after a certain point. Maybe all of his books have been written like that and I've just noticed it now. There's very little stylistic flair, just a recitation of facts. ...more

Exceptional, except for the ending, which I found to be a bit less believable than the rest of the book. Excellent pacing and building of tension. Very well written and readable.

I LOVED the other two books with the character of Cal but this one was overly long, with way too much dialogue, very little action, and an unsatisfying conclusion.

Beautiful story told from the perspective of a little girl being shuttled between her poor family and her aunt and uncle, who are more loving a well off.

Great tension from the beginning. I really liked the first half especially. Then it got a bit wordy, with a bit too much talk. The ending was a bit melodramatic. But for its time it was probably very original.
