Amazon Sues Fake Reviewers!

Wow!

I just bought a cover for my free short story on Fiverr.com (recommend, though it's more than that really) but I notice some people were selling reviews.

This was in the Sunday Times recently too.

I do think Amazon should only let people review books who have bought or read them. What do you guys think? Comment or ping me on Twitter @louisebagshawe

Encounters with Authors- John Grisham, Roald Dahl, Rosemary Sutcliffe

When you love reading as much as I do, you want to meet up with the authors, or hear from them, or know what makes them tick.

I've been luck enough to connect with a few of my heroes over the years.

When I was a small child, my mum took me to a book signing by Roald Dahl. I was dragged along despite loving books, because it was a saturday and who wants to queue up on Saturday? It was organised by Puffin and held in Pall Mall. My mum tells this story

When I got to the top of the queue Mr. Dahl looked at me smiling and said 'Hello there. Which one of my books would you like me to sign?'

'My Naughty Little Sister,' I said firmly.
Dahl grinned and said 'I'm very sorry, I didn't write My Naughty Little Sister.'
There was a pause while I processed this disappointing news and then I apparently said 'My Naughty Little Sister and Bad Harry.'
'Louise!' hissed my mum.
Dahl chuckled and said he was very sorry but he hadn't written any of the my naughty little sister books at all 'but I do know Dorothy Edwards and she's a good friend of mine. Do you like any of these...? indicating his own books.
'I quite like James and the Giant Peach,' I said 'it's scary and it isn't boring.'
'Well that is wonderful to hear,' said Dahl, and signed me my book.
The man from Puffin was beside himself but my Mum wasn't best pleased for some reason.
Nonetheless, I remember thinking that it would be nice to be an author and write books, because then people would queue up for you and you would get to know quality writers like Dorothy Edwards even if you were only Roald Dahl.

I'll talk about Rosemary Sutcliffe and John Grisham next - always the fangirl, do so much reading!
