As many of you are (hopefully) anticipating the finale to the Alex Jones Series, I wanted to announce that I've put it on hold for now to focus the remainder of the year on a new standalone novel, ,No Place is Safe.

Without further ado, here is the gist of the novel.

"DS Christian Anderson assumed when he walked out the door of his childhood home in Cedar Lake, Saskatchewan ten years earlier, he had left his old life behind. However, a desperate call from his childhood friend, Gemma, catapults him to return to the dismal town he did not ever want to see again.

Her older sister, Cassidy, fresh out of her third stint in rehab has vanished, and the local police chalk it up to just another junkie off on a binge. However, Gemma can’t shake the gnawing sense there is more going on. With no one else to confide in, Gemma appeals for his help.

At first, he is hesitant, but at last, DS Anderson agrees, packs his bags, and journeys north from Regina. As the investigation ramps up, several locals are questioned, and DS Anderson digs up more information than he came for about his own mother’s disappearance twenty-four years ago.

The tension around town builds, and then on the second night, Gemma disappears. Now alone in a town plagued with phantoms from his past, will DS Anderson rescue his friend, or will he too fade away the same as all those he ever loved?"

 As most of you are aware, Dark Ending is completed and has been sent off to my editor for review and critique.  I am so thrilled to share the continuation of Alex Jones' life after leaving Ridgewood Hills.Tentatively, I have set the release date for September 17, 2017, but please be aware that this may change depending on the amount of edits that must be made.  However, I do not expect any delays as of this posting. I wanted to write this blog post to sincerely thank you, the fans, for all of your loyalty and support during this process.  I never once, in my wildest imagination, expected that I would have completed "An Unsettled Past", let alone have finished a second novel.  So thank you all for your kind words, support, and for just being intrigued with the story.  All of this just motivates me to provide you all with what you want, and that is a story to end all stories.With that said, I also want to be upfront and let you all know that I will be taking a short hiatus from Alex and company, and re-focusing my energy on a new concept in the next few months. I'm not giving up on Alex, but I want to introduce some new characters I have developed for the next novel, "Repressed Memories." Don't be mistaken, Alex Jones will have a closure sometime in 2018-2019 in the final novel of the series, which I have titled, "The Whole Truth."Again, from the bottom of my heart, a big thanks to each and every one of you who believe in me!- C.L. As many of you know, I've moved away from the states and am now living abroad in Germany for the foreseeable future.  While I'm sad to have moved away from such an amazing group of friends, family, and work there has been one silver lining - my ability to devote more of my time and energy to writing!In my last update (March 1, 2017) I had just completed Chapter 6.  Getting to that point was a uphill battle between working full time and preparing for this incredible move.  But since arriving in Germany I have made amazing progress on the continuation of Alex Jones' journey.  I am proud to announce in this update that as of this morning I completed Chapter 12 and began working on Chapter 13.At this point I'd say I am close to half way completed with this novel!!  I feel so accomplished and know that, you, my fans, are probably just as anxious to learn what happens to Alex after surviving his near death experience in Colorado.Also, I want to send a request out there for two more beta-readers.  I currently have three amazing ladies helping me ensure that this book is 100% error free and written with you in mind.  If anyone is interested in helping with this creative process, please don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail at administrator@clbreesauthor.com.Being a beta-reader for me means being able to spot holes in the plot, helping me discover areas that need to be "fleshed" out more, as well as inconsistencies in the story line.Again, thank you for your patience as this novel is being written.  And thank you for being such amazing fans!Yours truly,CL Brees

Hey everyone!  I know it's been a while since I last wrote a blog, and I apologize for this.  I wanted to just quickly give an update on how progress on the 2nd book in the Alex Jones series is coming along.Yesterday, I finished writing Chapter Six.  As most know surely by now, I haven't been able to write as much as I would like because of our impending move overseas for the next three years.  However, I am more committed than ever to have this book ready for publishing by no later than October 2017.Thank you again to all of you for your support, and as always, feel free to send me any questions or comments in the meantime!CL Brees

I've been very busy editing the novel lately, but I wanted to give everyone an update on how things are progressing.I have so far been able to edit Chapters 1-4 and am halfway through Chapter 5.  If everything continues on the same pace, it is quite possible I should be able to release the book earlier than expected!I've also recently been asked if I will be publishing the book in print.  I am still weighing the options of this as book printing can be quite pricy:(  I may take pre-orders for print books and use the money to pay up front for the printing costs.  I will let you know whatever I decide.  I want to keep you, the fans, as happy as I possibly can!!Keep an eye out for future updates!
