Rich Weyand is a computer consultant and digital forensic analyst. He was born in Illinois and lived there almost 60 years before he and his wife engineered an escape to the hills of southern Indiana in 2011. His undergraduate and graduate education is in Physics, and he's never really recovered. He is currently heading up the launch of a computer software start-up.

Try telling the story to someone else. Call up a friend and tell them you want to tell them a story. Then jump in. "So there's this guy, and...."

Writer's block is mostly nonsense. There's no such thing as baker's block, or dentist's block, or mailman's block. If a particular story isn't ready, work on another one. But keep writing.

2) Write short stories first. It forces you to concentrate on the story arc.
3) Your first novel will be garbage. Reading the first and last chapter in quick succession will show you how much you improved while writing it. Write it fast and shelve it. Don't try to fix it. Move on.

A Couple Of Rough Years

In January 2016, I was hospitalized for a ‘walking heart attack’ I had apparently had over Christmas. I wrote this up in the last story of my memoir “So There’s This Guy.” One carryover from that is I carry nitroglycerin tablets all the time.
