Hi Melody,

Thank you for your wonderful, generous comments and equally wonderful, generous review! I am very appreciative, indeed! Your observations regarding the goals of my novel are spot on. I have been doing volunteer work for an ocean conservation organization for a number of years. I have learned that the plastic pollution problem is “out of sight and out of mind” to many, but each day it’s becoming clearer to me that the plastic problem is here to stay and will adversely impact generations to come -- not to mention the wildlife that it ensnares, strangles, starves and suffocates. It’s a dreary subject and therefore easy to tune out. My goal was to write a lively adventure story that would engage and entertain readers of all ages and hopefully educate them about plastic pollution, and, ideally, compel them to think about how they can help reduce plastic consumption and waste in their lives. You have certainly encouraged me that my story may do just that! Thanks again!(less)

How Noir Crept In While I Wrote Seacliff Park

The overlapping Prohibition and Depression eras between 1920 and 1933 played a major role in the rise of noir fiction and coincide with the timeline of my new historical thriller, Seacliff Park. The period inspired stories about bootleggers, crooked cops, disillusioned citizens, and survival in a corrupt world. Because their dark, ominous character, the stories became known as “noir fiction.” I in Read more of this blog post »

"I don’t normally review books I don’t finish. However, after reading dialogue like this: “The Lawd God sees it all. He keepin’ sco’. That’s why the grass don’t grow up under dem trees.” I decided to DNF it and thought other potential readers should b" Read more of this review »

"DNF. Sneak attack Christian novel. If that’s your jam though then I think you will love it! It’s triggering my religious trauma so I’m out homie. Made it 30% through. Final straw was “I’m not sure I know the answer to that either. But God does.” "

"Good Reads reviewers, you’ve let me down. I don’t know how this book has such good ratings. It is the worst book I’ve read all year.

It’s ridiculously didactic. You should only read this if you want someone to rant to you about being a nice person.
