I'm really sure if there was a single inspiration. I liked to make up stories and my friends encouraged me to write. I found myself writing for them, reading the stories to them, and at the end was always "what happens next?"

I started writing fiction in high school, earned a degree in English - Creative Writing, where I found more positive feedback. The final push was the change in how we now obtain and read books. E books and Amazon have almost completely changed the publishing business.

I realized I no longer had to have my work criticized and edited to fit the market, beg agents to even spend 5 minutes of their day to read a sample of my work, burn through a royalty check while waiting for the book to appear on shelves. It very liberating, like painting. No one comes along and paints over it to suit a supposed market.

It's something that I just feel compelled to do - write down a story. I find stories everywhere - news, observatories, what bugs or animals are doing, environments, etc.

If you want to write, you need to understand how a story goes together, but then, just write - characters solving problems is basically the theme. You're in control!

Not only is there great drama between them, but the scoundrel is the one who is resigned to love one woman, and the spoiled is the one who can't accept it. Rhett knows he's a fool to love her but he does anyway, tries, keeps trying, and she keeps slapping him when she's not using him.
The twist: when Rhett finally resigns himself at the same time Scarlet realizes her stupidity - and it's too late. (less)
