Death of an Asylum Seeker
I’m delighted to let all my GoodReads friends, followers and readers know that my latest book has just been published on Amazon Kindle for £1.99 or $2.99 or free on KU. Please give it a look and let me know what you think of it!
Here are the links and a brief introduction to the book:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PH94NTP/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PH94NTP/
‘….he doesn’t notice the watcher quietly move up behind him. Just after he passes the rushes, swaying in the water as the breeze picks up, he senses someone near. Beginning to turn, he catches, out of the corner of his eye, a glimpse of rapid movement. Before he has any time to react, the long-bladed knife has pierced his flimsy clothing, cutting right through his back.’
When a body is discovered in the boating lake of a city centre park in Newcastle upon Tyne, newly promoted DI Sam Snow is delighted to have the chance to lead his first big investigation. Especially when it puts him back in touch with psychologist Olivia Clavel, who has recently relocated back to her home city. However, Snow still bears some scars from a previous case and he can have no way of knowing how the new investigation will both force him to challenge his commitment to upholding the law and rock his life to its very foundations.
‘Death Of An Asylum Seeker’ deals with important contemporary themes in a humane but exciting way, while peppering its thrilling plot with a little humour and some romance. It is the second in the Tyneside based crime series, featuring Detective Sam Snow and psychologist Dr Olivia Clavel.

Spy Trap
I'm very pleased to announce the publication on Kindle of Spy Trap - my new spy thriller. I have again based the story on little known, but amazing events from the late summer of 1940. I hope that anyone who reads it will gain as much pleasure as I did writing it!

Codename Lazarus on NetGalley
Hi everyone, my debut Second World War spy thriller CODENAME LAZARUS by A P MARTIN is now available on NetGalley under Historical Fiction and General Fiction (adult) . Please take a look, if the genre interests you!
Spring 1938 and Britain's back is up against the wall.
War with Germany is looming and hundreds of British citizens are eager to pass on information to help the Nazi cause. John King, a young academic, is approached by his Oxbridge mentor to participate in a stunning deception that would frustrate Britain's enemies. The novice spy must learn to survive in a dangerous and lonely no man's land, whilst remaining one step ahead of those in hot pursuit.
"Suddenly, and without warning, King seized his chance to jump quickly into the last available cab. The man in the grey overcoat was taken completely by surprise and, as no other taxi was available, he had no means to follow. King smiled triumphantly at the sight of him, staring angrily at the back of the cab as it sped away through the thickening snow."
Adapted from a true story, Codename Lazarus takes the reader on a journey from the dark heart of Hitler’s Germany, across the snowy peaks of Switzerland to the horrors of Dunkirk, The Battle of Britain and The London Blitz, before reaching a thrilling and decisive conclusion from which none emerge unscathed.
“Great book, well written. I really hope there is another that follows on. “
“This book is hard to put down once you start reading it. The story is interesting and there are a lot of surprises that keep you guessing.”
“Captures the atmosphere of that era. The dialogue is extremely believable.”

Why do we like historical fiction?
I know whenever I read a historical novel, I am always very interested in why the writer chose that particular theme and what parts of the plot and which characters in the book are real historical figures.
Do you agree?
