First, allow me to set the stage: My path to authorship was not the norm. Most debut authors have to write their entire manuscript and then shop it around. In my case, I got signed based on the first 10,000 words of SUCKTOWN and a three-page synopsis – and without an agent. (Yes, I got very lucky.)
