“She sighs. “I just wish I felt more confident. People talk about transition like there’s this finish line—like one day I’ll just wake up and be complete. But I don’t think that’s how it works. I’m afraid I’ll keep changing but never arrive. Like I’ll always be in this awkward in-between space, wanting more, never satisfied with where I am, or who I am.” Pearly shakes her head. “I don’t think it’s about crossing some finish line.
