Writing with Love
I thought I'd share a few quick thoughts on my new pen name, Miranda Vale.
I'm not abandoning my name, but I wanted to write something different and my soul-mate, James, and I wanted to write it together.
There's something so amazing about getting to work with and create with the person you love. It's not easy, I'm not going to paint this over with rose-colored glasses.
We've had more than one moment in brainstorming or working over each others sections where feelings were hurt or harsh words might be said. That's the real world.
It's also the real world that we love and respect each other. He's so amazingly talented and creative and he feels the same about me. In the end the story we've crafted is so much better for it.
We work together all the time, even on my name, but it's different doing this. We're not just brainstorming or helping each other out when we're stuck. We're crafting the entire world, the plot, the characters together.
Sometimes our ideas take us wandering away from the outline which then makes a problem for the other one to get their part to work. Sometimes the outline doesn't work or a better idea comes along and we've had to go back to the drawing board.
All of this is part of the process that has made this so amazing. There was a lot of sweat, more than a few tears, and fortunately no actual blood but it all went in to making what we both think is one of the best stories/books we've produced yet.
I can't wait until you read it. The very first review came in today and it was absolutely glowing. I hope you'll feel the same!

ARC Copies
I've written this new book in conjunction with my soul-mate, James Horton. It's a Romantasy with an Urban Fantasy setting and we're both really proud of it.
I'd love to get your feedback! We need to know if we did a good job or not. If you'd be willing to review, grab your copy here -

Do you ever feel like you just have to take life one day at a time?
I've had a rough go of it these last few weeks. The biggest fear of any author is writer's block. I don't think I've ever experienced that exact thing but I have to tell you that Dragons 8 has gotten me close.
Somewhere, I lost the idea of the story. I was lost, it was scary. I'd sit down and work on it and the time would tick by but the words weren't piling up. I've never had this happen before and I was starting to feel a bit of despair about it.
I was supposed to have had this book to the editor three weeks ago. That's how far behind it is right now. Today, at long last, I got my mojo back. The story is back on track at last and I topped the halfway point.
I don't know what happened but when I started working today the story just flowed out. I found my love for these two characters again and they came to life for me.
So that's the title of today. One day at a time. It's how I pushed past the block. I sat here every day writing and putting the words there even if they weren't coming as fast and furious as they normally do.
I did work on other books too, Shifter Queen will be out this week. I just got it back from the editor and I love this story that Nadia and I have created together. She's an awesome author and friend.
You can expect more news on Dragons 8 to be announced soon and ideally in another week or so I'll have a sneak peek ready for the Muses.
Speaking of Muses, have you joined me on FB yet? I'd love to interact with you there! Here's the link for you.
Miranda Martin's Muses
My 6 year old just ran through shaking her naked bum, her favorite game to play letting me know she's getting a bath from one of her sisters.
Do your little ones have any quirks like this? Or did they? I'd love to hear your stories.
xoxo,
Miranda
