The Struggle is real...

Wow, so October flew by without me doing a monthly blog post! My apologies!! For this month I want to really talk about something that I as an Indie author am really struggling with...getting my book in the hands of readers.

I have social media accounts, blurbs out on several websites but I'm still finding it hard to get my book out there. Writing is such a love and putting your words out there, is not an easy thing to do. My characters are family to me, I know each of them inside and out and (as strange as this might sound) I love them. When I first started writing this book I had that moment of "I've really got something with this" and I just knew that if given the chance, this book and these characters would find a fan base. I just can't quite work out how to get this out to said fan base! It has found favor with those who have read it and it's getting good reviews which is why I'm continuing the series and am currently writing book two.

I'll keep reading, and trying different avenues to get the book out into the world but if you're reading this blog, I'm hoping you're a fan, so I have a mission for you: spread the word about Goddess Blessed! Together we can take this book far!!

xo,

Quinn

A little sneak peek!

For this month's post, I wanted to be true to my word (always a good thing!) and give a little sneak peak into book two! What I have for you is a new demon to meet, one that I find particularly interesting. Enjoy and don't forget to subscribe to the blog for news, updates and more exclusive looks into book two; Goddess Marked....

I spend the ride trying to get my weary brain to remember what I know about Gou demons. They are fierce demons with the body of a man but the head of a dog. They move in packs with an alpha leader just like dogs. They have a mouth of razor sharp teeth in their long snouts, teeth that are tipped with Duye, a venom only they carry. It doesn’t kill you… well at least not right away. First it paralyzes you before you start to hallucinate. Then after several traumatic hours you die from choking on your own saliva. I’ve always been scared of them.

Hope your interest is piqued!

Xo,

Quinn

A little History...

I thought for the first ever blog post, I would tell you about how I came up for the idea of The Athene trilogy!

I've always been interested in greek mythology. It follows it's own set of rules, which seem to be do what ever you want. Children can be born from their fathers, your twin could be more than two years older than you...in greek mythology, literally anything is possible. Oh but the stories, jilted lovers, sea monsters, demons. They are truly epic and so fascinating. I've always been particularly interested in Athena. She is the goddess of intelligence and wisdom. She is also the goddess of war. A perfect warrior. One that can balance violence and wisdom. I kept turning the idea of a race of warriors blessed with Athena's abilities over in my head and BOOM! Goddess Blessed was born. As I got deeper and deeper into writing the story, I realized that it was going to take more than one book to really tell the story of Ophelia, Lucien and all of the Athene. That's how the series came to be. Book one, Goddess Blessed is out now (which if you're reading this, I'm guessing you already know!) and I'm currently writing book two, Goddess Marked. I'm only going to post about once a month (to keep writing the books!) and the blog won't always be about writing but I will occasionally post some sneak peeks into book two so make sure you subscribe to the blog on my website (www.theathenetrilogy.com) so you catch the sneak peeks and looks into this author's life!
