Roman a clef: a writer's tool

My provocative book 'Dawood is Dead' is an attempt at Roman a clef, which in French means a 'novel with a key'.

It is a tool used often to write about subjects cloaked in secrecy and ripe with controversy, to point to angles and possibilities not considered in public domain, or even to settle scores without inviting criminal or disciplinary proceedings.

Or, like in my case, it is an opportunity to rewrite, to tell the tale the way the author would like to unfold, a vicarious attempt at justice, a peek into the mind of a mastermind who eludes us for 23 years, and is still unstoppable.

I use a provocative title to evoke new trains of logic not considered before in the public domain.
