I've never viewed that as a "block" exactly, just part of the creative process.

My favorite solution so far has been to take long walks at night with my smartphone. I have my work in Google Docs, and when I have an idea I'll just stop walking for a sec and write directly on my phone. (Sometimes I'll actually read, edit, and write one-handed while walking, but I can't say I really recommend that.)

I think it also helps that I'm in the habit of listening to audiobooks while I walk. It helps to keep me in a certain frame of mind so that when I'm not listening to a book on one of these walks, I'll probably have an urge to write.(less)

Introduction to Stonesong

This is your sneak peek at a language I constructed for my upcoming novel The Lasting Lands. It doesn’t play as big a role in the book as the Martian dialects (Gnomish, Ogrish, Elvish, and Impish), but this one is my clear favorite. It’s the product of over twenty years of tinkering, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.

Some ancient writing carved into a stone tablet

The main goal here is to simplify the grammar as far a

Such a beautiful book. I enjoyed the movie, but in my opinion, the book holds together a lot better. It's much more clear what's going on by the end, which hits like a ton of bricks. A powerful meditation on relationships and loneliness. ...more

Quotes by Cliff Jones Jr.  (?)
Quotes are added by the Goodreads community and are not verified by Goodreads. (Learn more)

“He was a straw man in a suit, a walking false flag. Ninety percent of everything he said was crap, and the remaining ten percent was sprinkled in there just to rub his stink on it. The question of whether he himself actually believed the things he said was irrelevant. He was a puppet in a long line of puppets. He played his part just as his so-called opponents were playing theirs.”
Cliff Jones Jr., Dreck

“His abrasive, over-the-top style had earned him a loyal fan base, despite—or perhaps because of—the many scandals that dogged him throughout his career. He was a tax cheat, a philanderer, a bigot, a bully . . . pretty much everything you might expect from a guy named Dumptruck.”
Cliff Jones Jr., Dreck

“He probably wouldn’t do any jail time at all, not with the perennial War on Drugs in full force. Too many dope smokers and pill poppers to lock up instead.”
Cliff Jones Jr., Dreck

“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.”
Philip K. Dick, I Hope I Shall Arrive Soon

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Player Piano

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).”
Mark Twain

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
C.S. Lewis

“In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
George Orwell
