Nikki Moyes is a multi-genre writer. Her first book, 'If I Wake' was published in 2016. She was born in Victoria and has moved around Australia amassing an eclectic range of occupations including tallship watch leader, apiarist, rose farm hand, and sandwich artist. In her spare time she learns tissu, static trapeze, and aerial hoop (she couldn’t decide on one) in case she needs to run off and join the circus.

This is my author profile. I sometimes review books on writing but all other books I review under a different account.

Thanks for your comment. I only picked a handful of countries as a trial giveaway to get my book noticed. It is expensive to post print books and until I sell some books I don't have much of a marketing budget. I'd love to do an ebook giveaway but at the moment that is restricted to the US. I'll look at including more countries if I do another giveaway. In the meantime you can check out my ebook on Amazon and Google Play Books :)(less)

For music I'd probably go with something classical. It's good to listen too while writing (see first answer) and you can listen to it on repeat without wanting to break something after a few days.
Food is a difficult one. My first thought was chocolate, but I'd get sick pretty quickly. I'd probably have to take something sensible like rice.(less)

The decline of bookstores

I was browsing the YA shelves in a Brisbane bookstore a couple of days ago and I realised I'd read half the books on the shelves already. Why? Because there was nothing new on the shelf. They were all books published years ago.

The only new YA book was by Cara Develingne - a celebrity. She didn't even write the book. If you look closely, past her name which is twice as big as the title of the book Read more of this blog post »

“Sometimes it’s ok if the only thing you did today was remember to breathe. Just breathe. Just start, anywhere, and then start again. Small steps.”
Nikki Moyes, If I Wake

“You, as much as anyone else in the entire world, deserve your love and affection. No one is perfect no matter how hard they pretend they are, so don’t compare yourself to them. There will always be people greater and lesser than yourself.”
Nikki Moyes, If I Wake

“Family aren’t always blood. They’re the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones that accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”
Nikki Moyes, If I Wake

“Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names will never hurt me. It's a stupid rhyme. Names do hurt. The wounds just don't show.”
If I Wake

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Oscar Wilde

“So many books, so little time.”
Frank Zappa

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
