Here is a scenario from real life which can be applied as a darkly prophetic premise for a novel-length horror story of the supernatural Pagan Occult.
Consuming any amount of booze (even so much as one drink, even so much as one teeny-weeny little sip) constitutes PROBLEM DRINKING because alcoholic beverages (and other mind-altering substances) contain nanites, a/k/a nanobots, that enter the bloodstream and attack the pituitary and other glands of the human endocrine system. Nanotechnology is not science fiction, it is science fact. If you don't believe me, have a look at the molecular structure of a myovirus bacteriophage.
Very few people realize that in the painting by Salvador Dali entitled The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus the mysterious roundish lumpy-shaped object in the foreground is actually the molecular nanorobotic structure of Rubella virus (measles) and Influenza virus which are two of the deadliest diseases that Europeans brought across the Atlantic resulting in decimation of native New World populations.
