Laura Merz is a Finnish visual artist and illustrator with a focus on creating exciting books for children. Her works have been shown in many international exhibitions and her books have won several awards and mentions in her home country Finland and worldwide.

Laura is fascinated by nature and wildlife. Animals and human-nature relationships are a central theme in her creative work. The inspiration for her illustrations comes from real-life encounters with animals. Laura’s storytelling, drawings and designs are often humorous and rich with quirky details. Her works are a combination of minimalism and maximalism, an eclectic mix of simplified lines and forms and an abundance of colours and textures.
