My grandmother; Edwina Prouty, was an Irish Roman Catholic. When she died a few years back at the age of 93 she had 112 grandkids. Her and my grandfather’s family immigrated here from Europe, and settled in the Astoria area, where they built homes right across the street from each other.
I was born in 1958. My father was half Lakota from the Turtle Mt. Tribe of Minot, North Dakota. His father was a Stofiel, a native American. His mother’s father was a Frenchman, a ‘LaFontaine.’ She was from a long line of medicine woman. My father drank a lot. He left my mother, me, and my three little brothers when I was six.
