I think about where the story has gone so far and where I want it to end. …moreThis may sound funny, but I use an analytical approach when I hit the wall. I think about where the story has gone so far and where I want it to end. So far, I've been lucky enough to know what my ending will be. Then I make notes and create a roadmap for the story. Consider the timeline. if you have an ending how far away is it? What seems logical for the story? What events or interactions make sense for the characters. Then just start typing. Read, rework, reread, etc. until you have what you want. You may find that what you have produced isn't the next logical part of your story but think of it as another letter in a crossword puzzle. It's starting to fill in the answer and give you clues to the final answer. (less)
