Curmudgeon Avenue #5.5

Hi!

Happy November everyone!

I have a new book - a new volume of Curmudgeon Avenue and it is absolutely free!

Curmudgeon Avenue's #Manchesterlockdown

Only available via my newsletter which is part of a promotion until the 5th of December 2020 follow this link : https://books.bookfunnel.com/funny-fa...

There you will find 25 free books (I only wrote one of them).

I just want to add, Curmudgeon Avenue's #Manchesterlockdown was written during the months that Manchester was identified as a high risk area. And it was also when I changed my mind about including the pandemic in my series.

Happy reading, stay safe and sane, Samantha :) Curmudgeon Avenue's #ManchesterLockdown

It's That Time of Year

I am always attracted to reading horror at this time of year, today I finished Horrors Next Door: Short Scary Stories to play with your mind.
by Tom Coleman Horrors Next Door: Short Scary Stories to play with your mind

And this is on offer as part of a BookFunnel promotion.
https://books.bookfunnel.com/hallowee...

I also want to add that BookFunnel is a great thing for indie authors to join - you will definitely find a promotion to suit your genre, and it is a great way to give ARC's and freebies out.

Must crack on, I am meant to be writing an essay about Dickens,

Samantha :)

Instagram and thank you

Thank you for all your support with the recent release of Curmudgeon Avenue 5 'The World Does Not Revolve Around Curmudgeon Avenue'. The other day, I was still waiting for paperbacks and I had to cancel my hair appointment (another story). But! I had ordered a grazing board (fancy buffet) from my friend Leah (she writes too). Her business is called Pretty Platters. You can see how this looked and hear a snippet of me reading on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/samantha.he... where you will also discover why I don't do my own narration for audiobooks!

Have a great Sunday, Samantha

Hello!

Nice one for accepting my friend request everyone. I can't wait to see what you are reading. Apart from my Goodreads list, I am making my way through the study of Bleak House by Charles Dickens for my Creative Writing degree,

I hope you all have a top weekend.

It is my mum's 81st birthday tomorrow - we are just awaiting a rain-free moment to pop round and visit (deckchairs at the front door and face masks).
I am also visiting one of my best mates in Todmorden - which if you have read the whole Curmudgeon Avenue series, you will know is the town that Small Paul hails from. (Adding his first appearance).

Happy reading everyone!

Paperbacks and summer

Every week I pop a paperback from my paperback pile on my list. Then it started raining (again) in Manchester :)

NEWS Curmudgeon Avenue #1 is now a hilarious Audiobook.

I did warn you, reader, nincompoops and intertwined lives...

The second-person narration was necessary for the house to introduce the characters to the reader, and then let them convey the universality of their situation.

It is fine for the author to alternate to other POV in a longer narrative (this is what I have learnt from the experts in my creative writing degree).

This voice use is perfect for the audiobook version. Available now from Amazon, Audible and iTunes Curmudgeon Avenue #1: The Terraced House Diaries has been expertly narrated by the experienced voice-over actor Lindsay McKinnon. Hilarious comic timing and UK accents breath life into my social satire about a house who doesn't like its owners.

A note on reading lists.

This is more to do with my reading life than my writing life. You may or may not know, I am doing a creative writing degree as a mature student. For lots of boring reasons, my brain doesn't work as fast as it used to. I must get a head-start on the forthcoming year's module. I looked at the reading list yesterday, and my eyes were all over my face! This means after I have finished the books on my 'currently reading' list, I do need to make a start. The God of Small Things is on the list (phew! that sounds good).
At 44, this is a whole new experience for me, I usually only read books that I am genuinely interested in reading (life is too short to read a book that's 'not for me'!)
The reason I am writing this is because, if I have commented on anyone's social media efforts 'Oh, I want to read that!' I meant it, but it might take me longer to get to it. Happy reading everyone! Samantha xx
