Things look different at age 70! I've stopped writing historical fiction, to focus on the poetry that connects us.

ABOUT MY WORK

Putting myself out there in THRESHOLDS has been entirely different from writing historical fiction and mysteries. The poems are nature drenched, emotional, physical -- and one reviewer said, "This is not a collection that distances itself from loss -- it moves directly through it, allowing memory, body, and environment to coexist in a way that feels lived rather than observed." Widow world, as I call it, is rich with discoveries and joy, in spite of who and what I miss.

My "day job" is still editing journals -- that is, sets of articles written by researchers in various fields, from engineering to ocean law to classroom technology. I love it! It makes sense of my own academic background (chemistry degree from Michigan State, where I only went to one football game). And it keeps me learning every day.
