DoMe

Excerpt From DoMe

"DoMe?" She says. She instantly coughs. Her sister and friend chuckle. "What?" I question. Her entire face turns red. "I said excuse me." She says lightly stuttering. I was pretty sure I heard her say do me. I could have been hearing things though. Being on call for thirty six hours sometimes it happened. I smile, "it's Winter in Brazil." I offer.
"Exactly! See, it's Winter in Brazil." Emma says shoving her balled up hand into mine for a fist bump. She then looks down at my basket. "We live in New York, not Brazil." The dark hair girl says. Both Emma and Ella chuckle.
“You're the doctor from last week." Emma starts then finishes with, "incase you forgot, I'm Emma. That's Ella and our cousin Ariana." I greet the ladies. "I'm Cameron Knox." I say to the one I didn't know. She smiles bright, batting her fake eyelashes.
"What are you eating?" It’s Emma who speaks. Her eyes on my gluten- free cookies. "Cookies." My response is simple. She drops a pack of Oreos in my basket. "It's not a cookie if it doesn't have gluten in it." I point to the label. Gluten- free sandwich cookie is in large letters.
"Compare and contrast Dr. Knox. Eat both of those and tell me which one is better." Ella nudges her with one of her crutches as she says, "I bet half your hot ass it's the Oreos. And they contain gluten. Lots of that shit." Her sister cuts her off before she can say anything else.

Interview With Nalla

1.) What is the first book that made you cry?

Romeo and Juliet.

2.) Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Writing can both energize and exhaust me. If I'm stuck and can't come up with something that seems natural it's exhausting.

3.) Have you ever gotten reader’s block?

Yes. Nothing a cup of coffee couldn't cure.

4.) Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I want to be more original. My characters in the Villain series are all unique. I even tried to write in their accents. If I'm writing Wayne, I want him to be as Irish as it gets. I don't want you to hear one voice in your head. I want you to live the book.

5.) What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

I have to remember men and women don't think the same. I find myself studying people without realizing it.

6.) What was your hardest scene to write?

The last chapter.

7.) How long on average does it take you to write a book?
I'd like to think it takes a couple of months, but after editing it takes about half of a year.

8.) Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
With the Villain series each book ties into each other. I am also writing a stand alone. It will be contemporary romance and not tie into the Villain series at all.

An Interview With the Cast: Rustam

Me: So you know I am writing a story about you?

Rustam: A story about me? Why?

Me: Because your story needs to be told.

Rustam: It's my story why not let me tell then, No?

Me: I mean, well yeah. (He sits up straighter and reaches for a glass.) is that water?

Rustam: Net, it's vodka. All us Russians do, da? We drink vodka, fight with bears and eat beet soup.

Me: I don't think that.

Rustam: Well, what you think?

Me: This is my interview.

Rustam: It is? Then ask away.

Me: where are you from?

Rustam: Russia. Did you think this was American accent?

Me: No. I didn't think that. What brings you to America?

Rustam: Pumpkin pie. It's American, no?

Me: It is. But honestly.

Rustam: What's your name sweetheart?

Me: Nalla. My name is Nalla Xavier.

Rustam: I'm Ru. (I roll my eyes when he extends his hand) Running Nalla- were all running from something, da? Nice talk. I have go to gym.

Me: Um, thanks. Can you tell the next person to come in. (He leaves)
