Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Chapter 9 of the next fic in the Perfectly Normal series (tentatively titled "Extraordinary Summer") is finished! That's another 8.5K words added to the draft fic. So that took about 3 weeks to write - not too fast, but not too shabby either. I'm happy with how this is progressing, even though I'm not going to meet my optimistic goal of being finished and ready to post by March. There's still at least four more chapters to go.

Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Chapters 12 and 13 of "Extraordinary Summer" (Perfectly Normal #5) are now completed. This chapter sprawled so long I ended up splitting it into two chapters, of 4.3K words and 9K words respectively. It is a little strange to me that four thousand words of writing now feels so short it practically requires an apology. It was an intimidatingly long essay in my early university days! I estimate that there's only three chapters remaining of this fic to write before I begin doing thorough editing, prior to posting. I'm on the home stretch now! :D

Posting & Writing Update - Ouroboros & Perfectly Normal
Chapter 6 of "Ouroboros" is up - this is the final chapter.
Writing on "Extraordinary Summer" continues to go well, and Chapter 14 is now finished at around 7.5K words. There's only two or three chapters to go until the draft fic is complete.

Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Chapter 15 of "Extraordinary Summer" is done. :)
There's STILL two or three chapters to go, though. I think I have to stop promising I'm close to the end. :P
I'm not changing what I have left to write, it's just all a lot wordier than anticipated once I start fleshing out the outlines. So I have to keep splitting up chapters into more manageable sizes. This one is 8.4K words.
It took only 10 days to get a new chapter done! I'm very happy with my current rate of progress. Even if somehow it appears to be almost June and this fic still isn't finished...

Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Chapter 16 of "Extraordinary Summer" is done, with an epic 10.5K chapter chock full of drama. I rewrote it a bit to add a bit more action, and fix some plot holes. I simply couldn't make it any shorter, as it was I cut out 600 words to plonk into the start of chapter 17.
It's now up to the end of August, so there's only so much fic left to fit in - this fic will wrap up either *before* the Hogwarts Express, or just *after* the ride back to Hogwarts, depending on what suits best as a tidy ending as I approach that part of the story.
Opinions, anyone? I'm leaning towards finishing up after the ride back, and before the Sorting, but I think either should work. Obviously if I include the train ride the story will be that little bit longer (so, a marginally longer wait for this fic, but a little more content once it posts). Naturally there will be another long fic in the series after this one, covering the GoF school year.

Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Getting so close to finished now! Chapters 17 and 18 of "Extraordinary Summer" are done, at 5K and 7K words each respectively. Chapter 19 should be the very last chapter, as I wrap things up and try to find a satisfying cut off point to separate this fic and the one that will follow it in the series.
Then it'll be time to edit, and edit some more, check in with my beta and spot-checkers, and then the posting begins at last! It will go up at my standard rate of a chapter a week.
I'm currently leaning towards finishing up this fic with a farewell and a little chatter at the station, and then a scene jump for the next fic to the Sorting. Train scenes can get a little repetitive, don't you think? I'll see how it plays out as I plan and write.

Writing Update - Perfectly Normal
Great news! I have just finished the first draft of "Extraordinary Summer", the next fic in the "Perfectly Normal" series. 19 chapters, 150K words long in total (that's twice the length of HP & the Philosopher's Stone). I've been writing this for a *year*, and it's all DONE! Now I just have to edit, and edit some more, then it's ready for posting! I'm going to have a lot of happy readers soon! And OMG the relief to have it finished at last! Once I start posting it will go up at the rate of one chapter a week, on Tuesday mornings (8-10am Australian Eastern Standard Time). That'll be on Monday evenings, for many of my American readers.
