How do you deal with writer’s block?

Sometimes I simply take a different route and go work on a different chapter. I rarely write in a linear path. I typically bounce from one scene to the next one I feel like writing.

But if I'm completely stumped on the manuscript, then I stop what I'm working on and I walk away for a bit (a few hours, days--whatever is necessary). I do something else: take a drive, go on a hike, window shop, binge a show on Netflix.

The point is to STOP THINKING about the book and the block. Only then will the obstacle roll out of the way.(less)

Karma Lei Angelo This is no one thing that's great about being a writer. I enjoy 95% of it. There's so much to learn and do. And I haven't lost my passion for it!

From the time I wake up in the morning to the time I go to sleep, I'm ALWAYS doing something every single day towards this career. It could be saving articles to read later, reading the latest statistical marketing analysis, watching crime shows on Hulu, updating the To Do List, researching items for the next book, etc. There's no lack of things I do that I find fascinating.
