Perhaps I'm stretching the meaning of "fictional" here, but it would have to be Karl Ove and Linda in "My Struggle: Book 2."

David Sedaris and Hugh aren't fictional, but they are probably my favorite couple to appear as characters in a book. (Well, books.)

Also, I'm currently reading "Resurrection" by Tolstoy, and the Nekhlyudov/Maislova relationship is pretty amazing in that tragic, moralistic, theological Tolstoyan way. (less)
