M.J. Woods lives in Central New York with her family and her beautiful but not-so-bright Bernese Mountain Dog. For over twenty five years, her 9 to 5 days were spent working in the legal field of a small town. She often draws from these experiences and re-imagines them to get her characters into trouble while they find love.

M.J. writes motivated by coffee and music, also drawing inspiration from the Central New York landscape. Her debut novel "Balance" was released in November, 2016 and earned a Silver Medal for "Romantic Suspense" in the 2018 Readers' Favorite Book Awards. ...more

I began the story only from the heroine'…moreI started writing "Balance" four years ago when the billionaire hero ideas were beginning to become the norm. I began the story only from the heroine's point of view, and then I let it sit in a drawer for a long time. Once I dove back into it, I added the hero's voice/dual points of view and the entire story seemed to fall out easily after that. Most of my ideas stem from my experience in the legal field over the last twenty plus years, always twisting ideas and embellishing on the question "what if?"(less)
