Introducing Culture Clues! (new educational materials in the above-the-ceiling™ creative learning series)

Check out info about our new Culture Clues!  Our first Culture Clues adventure explores The Sleeping Beauty ballet – and how dancers get ready to perform. This book is packed with valuable educational materials – with sections about dancers, ballet history, performing – and even a quiz to test new knowledge!

Culture Clues are perfect as a standalone book topic (about ballet, performing, and the history of The Sleeping Beauty) – OR – these Clues may be used with our book Sus-sous at The Ballet, which has an enchanting story about students preparing for their performance of The Sleeping Beauty ballet.

Culture Clues are designed for use in classrooms, master classes, and enrichment programs. The dance company Pointillism Jazz Consort uses the above-the-ceiling™ educational materials to encourage audience members to support culture in their own communities.  Now it’s even easier to engage audiences!  Use our Culture Clues books – which give great info about performing, history, and the arts!

Find out more about the premiere of Culture Clues – in educational programming of Fall 2017 – by contacting us!  (Click on CONTACT header in our blog.)

REFUGE films support UNHCR’s #NoLostGeneration initiative

The Infinite Legacy Project completed a project about the massive refugee crisis and UNHCR’s #NoLostGeneration initiative today!  Linked with the piece, REFUGE, ILP members and Pointillism staff, shared info about the world refugee crisis – in a series of candid interviews and filming.  You can check out in depth info about the project in two documentaries on our pointillismjazz YouTube channel:

The UNHCR is undertaking the vital work of keeping refugee youth and children on track with education and therapy support.  We hope our viewers will take this to heart and support this essential work through #NoLostGeneration.  At the end of each documentary is UNHCR #NLG info about actions you may take!

More info about the Spring 2017 REFUGE project is available in the PRODUCTIONS & RESIDENCIES section of this blog.

above-the-ceiling™ spring project: REFUGE

The Infinite Legacy Project Conservatory will present ‘REFUGE’ on 2 April 2017 in a service performance at Westminster Church of Akron (in gratitude for its scholarship home at WPC).  As part of the above-the-ceiling™ creative learning series, a project notebook is being compiled – to research refugee experiences around the world and to outline sources where information on the subject are available.  After the project ends, a link for the notebook will be provided with this article.

REFUGE explores shapes and phrases – inspired by the images and stories of refugees who struggle around the world to escape war, oppression, and disease. The transcendent score of Samuel Barber’s ‘Adagio for Strings’, played magnificently by Jim Mismas on Westminster’s Schantz organ, expresses the poignant sacrifice of these brave people.  The a-t-c project notebook includes descriptions, impressions, and sources which inform our work for the choreography of this piece.
