About the Author

I see writing not as a comfort zone, but as a field of mental confrontation. My works reject genre expectations. The areas that shape my interests—money, power, consciousness, systems, and the cosmos—are different facets of the same intellectual trajectory.

I ask readers who wish to engage with my books to consider the following guidance when approaching them:

The Mind’s Operating System presents an inward reflection of how I make sense of existence. Using a software metaphor, it explores how our thought structures evolved, the components of our mental framework, and how they work in coordination. Biases, personality structures, and behavioral patterns are revealed through a scientific methodology.

I did some research, and I see that each of them approaches business and society from a different angle — Koch from a market-based management perspective, Jim Collins with a focus on leadership and company growth, and Michael Lewis through storytelling about finance and society.

My own perspective on these subjects, as I wrote in Money Doesn’t Change But You Can, is first and foremost about sustaining yourself — whether as an individual or as a company. This can actually be done by internalizing some very basic rules. But some readers find my book too simple, and they are right in a way — because the fundamentals are simple.

So where is the real problem? Why were so many people and companies deeply affected by the global crises of 2008 or the health crisis of 2020? The answer lies in the widespread belief, promoted by popular culture, that doing nothing and somehow predicting the exact timing of a future crisis is possible.

In my opinion, the solution is short and clear: Crises will always happen. You may sense they are coming and know that time is running short, but you can never predict the exact moment. That’s why you must prepare as if it could happen at any time. This is the most fundamental rule of sustainable financial management.

The next subject, of course, is success. Popular culture tends to focus on the personal stories of those who succeed, but in the financial world, success is really about identifying the main trends and the direction they are heading.(less)

“Eye in the Sky” Has Become Reality

I don’t know if you’ve seen this film, but I genuinely liked it. It offers a very striking portrayal of war and ethical values. It makes the viewer seriously reflect on decision-making, responsibility, and what is truly “right.”

Nowadays, we are witnessing a similar kind of attack, but this time the decision-making authority is no longer a council—just a couple of individuals. And instead of trying Read more of this blog post »

Hi Angela, I write my books in Turkish, and as you mentioned, they are available in three translated editions. The issue you raised about translation sometimes causing a loss of meaning is unfortunately a difficulty I have also experienced.

Hi Mehmet, it's a sheer delight to read Turkish authors, Turkish literature, and history. The only challenge is having to rely on translations, and I suspect they often fail to fully convey the beauty and style of the Turkish language.

P.S. I am also curious: What languages do you write in? I have seen your work in English, German, and French, but I suppose I should really ask you that in the "Ask the Author" section.
