I decided to put my pen down, for a while, and read books that I love: The Eyre Affair and The Taking. By taking a break from writing and reading books that are full of imagination and suspense, I felt inspired to write, again. I wanted to write a book that helped science fiction writers combat writer's block. Reading The Taking, which I consider to be cross-genre, science fiction, made me think about various sub-genres of science fiction. I started writing a book of prompts, about that. Bottom line: Read books that you love. You might be inspired by something in them. (less)
