New Poem in New Ohio Review
I was incredibly fortunate to work with the amazing Jessica Jacobs on my first full-length manuscript, and this poem arose from that collaboration.
On the first pass, Jessica gave me some feedback on a particular poem in the collection. I saw the value of the feedback but … didn’t change the poem. On the second pass, Jessica gave me the same suggestion again, a little more pointedly this time. And I agreed with the feedback and still… couldn’t quite make myself do it. I often find that an...

New Poem in Radar Poetry
My poem “Rescue” is just out in Radar Poetry, accompanied by a beautiful photograph by Alan Bern, and appears alongside a host of wonderful poems, some by poets who are new to me (full contents here). It’s my second time in Radar, and it’s a real pleasure–they are lovely to work with and take such care with the work of the poets they publish. If you’re a woman poet, check out their Coniston Prize contest, which is open now.
“Rescue” is about Simon (11-year-old German shepherd/Chow mix) and ...

New poem in Incessant Pipe
I’m so happy to be back in the pages of Incessant Pipe with “Unmapped,” a poem I’ve been trying to finish for, literally, years. Huge thanks to Clay Ventre, who asked for the poem, looked at innumerable drafts, suggested the title, and found the best artwork ever to accompany it.

New work in MER VOX and Molecule!
Apparently a global pandemic was the thing to get me writing again. At least a little. I’m so pleased to have two new poems published in great journals: “Who Are We in Heaven” in the Mom Egg Review June VOX “Isolation” folio and “February 2:00 AM” in Issue 3 of Molecule: A Tiny Lit Mag. The first poem was brand new work, and the latter was written a few years ago. I’m thrilled that they both found homes with friends, and I’m absolutely delighted by the work in both issues. Both are availab...

Is this thing on?
Hi, there. It’s been a while. For the last 18 months my job has kind of consumed my life. It’s made me feel sad and weirdly lonely and, worst of all. ashamed. My New Year’s resolution is to take some of that back.1
December has been a hard month. I fell and broke my right arm (two places) and a finger at the beginning of it. Three weeks in, I found out the bone wasn’t setting properly, and so a few days before Christmas I had surgery to put in two screws and a plate. It’s my dominant arm,...

Best of the Net Nominee!
Thrilled to share the news that the lovely folks at Radar Poetry have selected my poem, “To My Husband, to Make Much of Time,” as one of their nominees for this year’s Best of the Net anthology.
This makes me feel much hipper than I actually am.

Resolution: Read More
Oh, hi there! I’ve neglected this blog for a while. A move to DC and back for my husband’s job,new responsibilities at work, and my mother’s illness and death last year mean that poetry has been a lower priority post-MFA than I had hoped and planned. I didn’t have the heart for itfor a very long time.
But now it feels like the fog of grief is lifting a little, and soI’m using the (completely arbitrary) energy of a new year to get my creative life back on track. I’m making resolutions, and I’...
