Divided States of America review

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Having enjoyed the first two installments in this series, I was eager to read this one and, I have to say, it did not disappoint.
A mix of sci-fi and dystopia, Divided States of America is a very thought-provoking and well-written book about how humanity is wrecking itself from within.
The book picks up right at the cliffhanger of the previous one, taking us to a futuristic world where the worst has happened to America--a complete divide.
The author manages to integrate new characters with the ones from the first two books very seamlessly. The transitions from one scene to the next were well-executed with smooth writing.
I read well into the night in order to know how the story wraps up.
And that surprise at the end made the whole book for me.
An exciting read.
An ARC of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Love, Lies and Lizzie Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I seriously loved this.
It felt a little like reading Pride and Prejudice for the very first time. All the bickering and quick insults between Lizzie and Darcy made me grin like crazy, especially because it was in a modern setting with teenagers and cell phones.
Pure fun!

Can You Keep A Secret Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Still remains one of the funniest books I've read. I lost count of how many times I've re-read this it. Emma's antics never fail to make me laugh out loud, earning me quite a few strange looks in public!
My favorite part is when Emma officially meets Jack Harper and realizes who, exactly, she spilled all her secrets to. Gets me every time.

Unwind Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved it. Again. Even though it still creeped me the hell out.
One of the most sickening and horrific chapters I've ever read is Chapter 61; it made me feel physically ill. The helplessness and cruelty conveyed in those few pages stay with me long after I've turned the last page.

The Cruel Prince Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a four star book for me until the last TWO CHAPTERS!!! Then it immediately shot to FIVE stars.
I've had a life-long obsession with faeries; being named after them does that to a girl. The thing about faeries being neither good nor evil, however, has always given me pause. This tidbit is shown to its very creepy extent in this book. Faeries are cruel creatures with some benevolence thrown in--a very small bit, mind you.
Jude and Taryn are human twins who were taken to live in Faerie when they were eight-years-old. Their very unusual upbringing led to Taryn's desire to blend in with the Faeries (no matter how impossible), while Jude became consumed with the idea of besting them, which caused her no end of trouble.
Jude was so delightfully ruthless. I loved her viciousness, her unswerving need to show the Faeries they are not as powerful as they'd like to believe. Her run-ins with Cardan's group left me gritting my teeth in frustration--until Jude started paying them back in kind, that is (that was freaking awesome!)
I appreciated Jude's conflicted feelings when it came to Madoc. Her relationship with her sister, Taryn, was a typical sibling relationship until that thing with Locke. How could she stand by and let that creep do that to Jude, her own twin?
As for Cardan, he fascinated me. I knew there had to be more to him than what he chose to show when he was around Jude, and boy did he eventually deliver!
Can't wait to see all the craziness that's bound to be in book 2.
