I've never been a teacher, but it's a career path I seriously considered. I love education. I love the beauty of sharing knowledge so the next generation can take the ball and run with it. But writing has always been my true calling. I'd associate my understanding of sibling dynamics with my own experiences with my brother. In some ways sibling relationships can be very complicated, but they can be very special too. I tried to capture that dichotomy in Maggy and Ethan. I wanted them to have real sibling issues between them as I felt it would be true to who they are. But when push comes to shove, family comes first. :)(less)

Hi Mr. Colton!

My background is French, but over the years I've made a point to branch out at every opportunity. I'd work with a chef for a while and learn his or her techniques, and then move on an work for a different chef to learn and grow from them. So at this point, I'm just as likely to be influenced by Indian, Mediterranean or Tapas styles and techniques (Mediterranean is by far my favorite). That allows me to be creative and come up with dishes that are sometimes a crossroads between two vastly different cultures and cooking techniques, and highlight some of the most vibrant parts of each to come up with something new and delicious. :) (less)
