Rebecca Crunden's Blog

October 7, 2025

an update.

So what started as a social media update post somehow became a blog post of rambling blog thoughts. Whoops.

I have a long weekend coming and I’m so excited to get some time to actually sort out my blog! At last! I took on waaay too much (blog + writing + reviewing + social media book promo) while I was job hunting earlier this year and now that I’m working full time and rarely have free time to write let alone read let alone blog/review/etc, I’m completely behind on absolutely everything. At ...

Cover Reveal: Bounty Inc. by Adam Holcombe

Bounty Inc. by Adam Holcombe. Cover image shows an image of figures falling through the air near a mountain range, the moon in the distance.

Blurb:
A dream lives on while a will is strong, but a significant inheritance from a recently-deceased father sure helps too.

When Wyn throws away his easy life to open the galaxy’s first bounty hunter organization and become a bounty hunter himself, he soon learns that a strong support system will be needed. A support system like an unwise mentor, her giant lizard ex-girlfriend, a woman trapped within her armor, a suspicious cyborg, a possible war criminal, several thousand beetles, and a...

Book Review: Rez Kid (2025)

A photo of hands holding open a chapter book. Text off to the side reads: 'Book review: Indie Book Spotlight'

Rez Kid by Andrea Landry
Isabella Fassler

‘My moshum taught me to pray for those with hard hearts. He says there’s always a soft part.’

Oh my goodness, the art in this book is absolutely stunning. Each page is beyond jaw-dropping. I’m seriously so impressed by the illustrations! Lovely work!

The message of the book is absolutely heart-warming, too. A young girl who is being bullied and teased at school tells her family about how bad of a time she’s having on the bus. Each family memb...

Book Review: Insatiable (2021)

A beige banner with the words 'book review' in dark brown font over a graphic of a stack of book tide together with a ribbon, over text that says 'indie book spotlight' over a line broken up by two hearts in the middle, one smaller than the other.

Insatiable by Rhys Everly

MILD SPOILER WARNING

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I finished it in a single morning and found it overall pretty sweet and am definitely curious about other books the author’s written (and I want to check out the rest of this series for the other couples). It’s very much an easy rom-com type of tale. On the other hand, I really struggled with Brody as a character. He was rather hard to root for despite the fact that he’d been through a...

Book Review: My Earth Journey (2025)

A beige banner with the words 'book review' in dark brown font over a graphic of a stack of book tide together with a ribbon, over text that says 'indie book spotlight' over a line broken up by two hearts in the middle, one smaller than the other.

My Earth Journey by Evelyn Dean

I would never be alone as long as there were forests.

This was a really sweet, uplifting little story full of daydreams and escapism. The protagonist finds herself transported from the disappointments of fair-weather friends at school to the kind, playfulness of animals who bring her on a journey through the natural world. It’s almost reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland except the animals aren’t fantastical or speak, they’re simply taking her through thei...
