Your Mileage May Vary

Sorry for the hiatus. It’s not really over. Picture me as the groundhog that sticks her head out to see if winter’s over yet (or to drop a novella, same diff, right?). Once it’s confirmed that winter is not over (or that the novella is on Smashwords), it’s back into the hidey hole. It’s been a really tough couple of years health-wise, mental-health wise, and family-wise, and I’m not done dealing. Best of luck to anyone out there who also feels like they’ve been treading water this whole time.

Happy Things for Unhappy Days

Want to know what cool stuff I’ve been doing that’s getting me through the 2020 garbage fire? See below for eleven things I like a lot. I almost weeded one out, because ten is such a nice round number, but then I was like, fuck it. The world has been shit-tastic for a while now, and the more happy things the better.

Oh, and because marketing is unfortunately a part of my job and stuff, uh, buy my new book, I guess? Publisher’s Weekly liked it? It’s about bandmates who are all lusty for each oth...

One Week To Go!

In honor of my upcoming release, I’m going to post a brief new excerpt from This Is Not the End. A steamy one, this time. Ooh, la la.

Marriage, Or a State Of Constant Something-or-Other

Have you ever wondered why romance novels focus on falling in love? The title of the genre is literally romance, which can take place at any point in a successful or unsuccessful relationship, but we always seem to focus on the beginning.

But Sidney, you may say, that’s the best part! That’s when all the fluttery feelings are best! Why wouldn’t you want to read and write about that part?

Yeah.

Except no?

I mean, there’s a reason people get married. And stay married for three, ten, or, best case scen...

This Is Not the End is gonna be an audiobook!

Yay, right?! I’ve never had an audiobook before. Unfortunately, I don’t have any further news, not even a release date. Although I will let you know that good stuff as soon as I know!

And just in case you’re like, wait, what book is she blathering on about? I’ve got a link here that’ll help remind you! There’s a blurb and an excerpt if you click on the pretty picture below.

Why Rebecca is my favorite novel

This is a post I’ve been laboring over for a good six months, because I’m talking about something that’s really important to me. It should maybe say something that I’ve taken way more time preparing to talk about Rebecca than I ever have with posts about my own books, but whatever. My books are what I write, but Rebecca is part of why I write. Rebecca is important, okay?

Rebecca was written by the inimitable Daphne du Maurier, who was also the author of the short story that inspired Hitchcock to ...

This Is Not the End. Cuz it's the beginning. Cuz it's a new book. Get it? See what I did there?

Okay, ignore the title of this blog post, because it’s dumb. I couldn’t think of anything better. My creative powers stop short whenever the length of a project is shorter than 50k. I get all panicked about running out of space and end up flailing. It’s a play on the title of the new book, that’s all: This Is Not the End.

Hey, I didn’t say it was a good play.

Anyway, I have a cover. It’s much better than the title of this blog post!

I also have a blurb. And an excerpt. That’s a lot of stuff to drop...

Duh Duh Da Duh! (Imagine Trumpets, Please).

So a while back I did a writing update on my blog. You might remember it. Just in case you dont, Im gonna copy and paste it here so that I dont have to do all the work of trying to restate it. Its Friday and Im lazy. So this chunk here is what Im referring to:

I have about 30k words on a story that I think will be my next Patreon piece, although Im not 100% on that yet. Dont quote me. Its about a strong-willed, takes-no-bullshit woman married to a bona-fide rock star who worships the ground...

I Made A Thing

This is the part where you’re probably expecting that I made a thing out of paper and words and stuff, and you’d be wrong.

I made this:

This is a thing.

This is a thing.

So I’m a fan of the Great British Baking Show. It’s wholesome and pure, which is something this world greatly needs. People doing cool shit for no other reason than to get props for being cool at shit, and everyone being super nice and helpful along the way? Sign me up all day. But it also means that I, a person who should’ve probably bought...
