Beyond the City of Red
As I am sure many writers do, I find myself looking at stories beyond the one that I am currently working on. Each new story, each new hurdle, each new idea, spawns another. The other night I had a dream, a dream of a post-nuclear world, not too different from the Mad Max movies. The dream had parts which, quite honestly, made absolutely no sense (as dreams tend to do), but the main idea stayed with me when I woke. I spent the following day unpicking what I could remember from the dream, plucking out the bad bits, prising out the impossible bits, and feeding the good bits to give birth to new, exciting ideas. I have ended up with an idea that could now go somewhere, an idea that coud be interesting to write, and hopefully to read.
After my next book: City of Red Tales, I plan to write a psychological sci-fi, a step in a completely different direction to the violent world that I am creating now. So, with that book in mind/ an idea for a horror story/ the post-nuclear story from my dream/ and a direct sequel to the original City of Red (a full novel, not the short stories that I am writing now)... with all this floating around in my skull... It seems that I am going to be a busy man.
