Jamie Schler First, read... read a lot, read everything and learn how to analyze and critique the work of other authors, the stories, the writing, and the language…moreFirst, read... read a lot, read everything and learn how to analyze and critique the work of other authors, the stories, the writing, and the language; this is excellent practice for learning how to critique your own work. Then write. And network - talk to other writers about how they work and advance professionally. I do organize and run writing workshops; workshops can be a great source of information and inspiration. (less)
