Anger is my most productive writing emotion, with sadness being second. I can whip something great out when I'm really angry, but then it takes me eight times as long to edit out the anger.

If I have my topic, but no emotion, it always comes out flat. Music can often trigger emotions for me. Sometimes just playing music is enough to trigger a topic and get my mind thinking. (less)
