H. B. Butler grew up around the Gold Coast area of Australia. She grew up in a family of avid readers and has had their love of books passed on to her. She began reading from an early age and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down the pace at which she devours books.

H.B. Butler started writing 'Breaking the Barrier', her debut novel, as a way to get one of the many stories bouncing around in her head out. She wrote it and then put it away for several months never to be seen by another. Eventually she went back and pulled it out of hiding and decided to re-read it, make a few changes and share it with a couple of friends.
