C. E. Clayton is the author of young adult fantasy series, “The Monster of Selkirk”, the creator of the award winning cyberpunk Eerden Novels, and her horror short stories have appeared in anthologies across the country. By signing up for her newsletter, you'll immediately get a free novella set in the Eerden universe! She'd also be thrilled if you followed her on Instagram and liked her bookish and pet photos, and Amazon where you can get updates on her new releases. When she’s not writing you can find her treating her fur-babies like humans, constantly drinking tea, and trying to convince her husband to go to more concerts. And reading. She does read quite a bit. ...more

I read that book early in middle school and gave a half hour book report on it detailing every aspect of it to the class, which I enjoyed! But no one else did... And when it comes to new releases, I usually wait for the hype of new releases to die down before I hop on. I'm a bit leery of the hype and what not. So the most recent "new" release I read and adored was "Angelfall" by Susan Ee.

I clearly have a type in books, both new and old. Give me a good Fantasy with a hero's journey, and I'm in!(less)

No, you aren't imagining it. Book reviews on my website have vanished!

But where did they go, you may be asking? Simply, I am focusing my website on me and my own works. Shocking I know. The book reviews are not going away though, far from it! Instead, you can still find them all on Goodreads, or the compilation of my four most recent reads in my Substack.

I enjoy writing book reviews, which can come with it's own tight rope of author vs. reader politics. But I am an Read more of this blog post »

“Life was strangely glorious like that sometimes; just as it could be cruel and unforgiving, so could it be a mysterious wonderland of unexpected joy and chance encounters.”
C.E. Clayton, The Heart of the Forest

“All this time you’ve spoken to it, looked into your soul, and spied that darkness lurking and twisting through the fabric of all that you are. You fed it nothing but your hatred, your anger and guilt, shame, regret, and yes, your loneliness. It grew fat on all the things you wanted to be rid of. You did not suspect? Did the Tallis never consider the darkness within was looking back? Learning? And growing strong, ever stronger. Stupid, foolish girl. The Tallis never knew! Ignoring it all, stuffing all the bad and ugly things down, down, down doesn’t get rid of them. What you choose to feed your divine spark is what it turns into!”
C.E. Clayton, The Wrath of Silence

“Tallis is a beautiful and terrible thing. Fearsome and alluring. Just like the forest in many ways... but it's written all over that handsome, pale face of yours; you like her.”
C.E. Clayton, The Duality of Nature

“Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”
John Greenleaf Whittier

“Nowadays a broken heart will run to many editions.”
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Works

“Tallis is a beautiful and terrible thing. Fearsome and alluring. Just like the forest in many ways... but it's written all over that handsome, pale face of yours; you like her.”
C.E. Clayton, The Duality of Nature

“Tallis had persevered through and unshakable feeling of not truly belonging... She understood the responsibility her family constraints put upon her, and while Lana knew Tallis's heart trembled and raged at the perceived indignity of it all, she had grown up into a charming, beautiful woman with shoulders that refused to bow to a world that demanded they should.”
C.E. Clayton, The Duality of Nature

“If death meant just leaving the stage long enough to change costume and come back as a new character...Would you slow down? Or speed up?”
Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters
