I'm an honorary native Californian. I've lived in Encinitas, California, for close to 50 years. I'm a T-shirt and shorts guy. I like the beach, ocean and being outdoors in nature.

My interest in history was amplified by researching and writing the historical novel, "Early's Idaho." The book very largely came out of my subconscious. I didn't realize what it's about at the deepest level until a year after I finished writing it.

My next book will be about my trivial life in its important historical context. The book after that will be about a rare thing — a Civil War event that's barely known. The book after that will be more like a play. It will consist almost entirely of dialogue. ...more
