For non-fiction writers of how-to books, my suggestion is to: 1) teach the content and 2) then write it up. By teaching it first, you will get experience and mastery of how the content flows to real people in a live setting -- even if it's just to one or two people. You will speak in convincing, conversational language. Once you feel good about what you've said, then type it up and edit it. Then, share what you've written to a few trusted individuals for their feedback. Watch videos on YouTube on "How to Write and Self-Publish a Book" -- lots of step-by-step guidance there. Good luck!(less)

I decided to make my own condensed course teaching the 4 Keys of empathic awareness, listening, speaking, and dialogue. I then told myself, "I already know what I'm saying, why don't I just type it up?" Which I did in 2016, and then self-published my 4 Keys book at Amazon in early 2017. It quickly became an Amazon bestseller in several categories -- reaching far more people than I could have reached by simply teaching in classes, although I still teach. Writing and publishing the 4 Keys book is one of the best decisions I ever made.(less)

“When a problem arises between two people, it’s very easy for one person to think the other person is the problem. However, if we think that way and make the other person “the problem” then we in effect dehumanize them – i.e., we perceive them no longer as a person, but as a problem that needs to be fixed.”

“Why are they so quiet?” There may be several reasons and one might be that they’re not sure it’s safe to say what they want to say without being misunderstood, ridiculed, or deluged with a lot of unsolicited advice or suggestions. If they’ve experienced some of those things in the past, they are liable to clam up, be silent, and keep their thoughts to themselves. In their mind, it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
Bento C. Leal III, 4 Essential Keys to Effective Communication in Love, Life, Work--Anywhere!

“When there are so many emotions swirling inside a person, they have the need to express those feelings in words in order for them to actually hear and understand more clearly what’s going on inside their own mind and heart. They may need to talk it out so that they can see all the pieces and how they fit together before their emotions make sense to them.”
