There isn't any one thing that gets me past writer's block. It's all a matter of getting re-inspired, and that doesn't always happen the same way. Sometimes people inspire me. Sometimes something small and seemingly insignificant inspires me. Sometimes all I need is a good shake. I just sit myself down and say, "This is going to pass. Just let it." Then I do. (less)

I once had a professor who told me that writing because it's fun is not a good reason to write. I would never be successful, and though I'm still a new author and I've neither succeeded nor failed, I disagree with him wholeheartedly. I think my professor vastly underestimated my statement and my resolve. What is fun for me is not simple or meaningless. "I write because it's fun" is a promise to challenge readers, especially the ones that really want it. Writing influences, and I have fun attempting to influence (to whatever degree) my readers, to get them to see the world from a different perspective.

Writing gives me a voice. I could speak, but that's not my talent. Watch what I can do with words on paper. That's fun. That's dangerous. That's where I can do the most good, and I'll, ehem, have the most fun doing it.(less)
