Trying to push through it is exhausting and frustrating. A few hours or days later, a clearer head prevails and progress is possible.

As for taking eight years to write the book, that wasn’t a writer’s block issue. It was a mindset issue. As training professionals, Deb and I are skilled at writing technical manuals. Early versions of the book reflected that writing style. A training manual isn’t the type of book that the casual business professional picks up or sets on their night stand. We needed a shift in focus and a shift in approach – something that evolved over several years. We are very proud of the final product. It pushed us far, far, far out of our comfort zone to complete it.

We interview business people who are using the tools and experiencing their positive impact. It runs for 17 minutes every Monday morning at 9:03 central on the Tero YouTube channel. Past episodes are available for download.

We are also working on two companion pieces to the book. One is a card deck that supports those who choose to use the book as a tool to build better skills, collaboration and relationships with others at work. It will be available before the end of 2017. The other is a set of leaders’ guides for leaders who hope to instill the messages of Your Invisible Toolbox into the culture of their organization.
