#OwnVoices & My Own Voice

The truth is, this is a hard post to write. It’s a scary one because it evokes such intense feelings of anger, fear, sorrow, and anxiety about the future, as well as what has happened in the past.**This post is in no way commentary on the reviewer I refer to in this post or the opinion they shared. I clearly understand the intention and their effort to do due diligence**As some of you know, I’m a mental health therapist in my “other” life. I’m also queer, intersex, an intense creative, and a fos...

New Projects for Summer

So, after that grueling post that ended up feeling more confessional than anything else, I do want to let people know what I've been working on. Specifically.... I have a new book coming out! Of Flesh and Feathers is scheduled to roll out June 14th (if all things go to plan, which, as we are in the midst of a pandemic, might not)! Some of you may have noticed the changes to the front page of my website! It's a mock-up cover, a placeholder as my cover is in the finishing stages - I am so...

The Blog Post I've Been Avoiding

You can't hear my huge intake of breath and sucking sigh as I sit in front of this blog page. Where the hell have I been? It's April. My last blog post was almost two years ago now. After Brigade 1 was published, I kind of... disappeared? Except I didn't. So many wonderful and terrible things have happened in the past year, I cannot summarize them into a cute list like I did in my last post, though all those things are true. I've graduated with a Masters in Counseling Psychology and started...

April Showers Bring May...Updates!

Well, well, well... look who's been SLACKING? Me, I definitely mean me. This lovely update is brought to you by the end of my Spring semester, in which I completed three graduate courses and found my life generally derailed by unexpectedly lovely adventures. All good things, I assure you. Several good friends also graduated from our program, which led to many celebrations as well. In addition...1. I completed a memoir project very near and dear to me. It's going off to beta readers now.2. I a...

Honorable Mention for Brigade!

Quick note to all my subscribers and followers... I'm so excited to announce that Trans Liberty Riot Brigade has received an honorable mention from the Rainbow Awards! What a way to start November :) Notes from the judges:1) I loved the voice of our protagonist and looking at the world through her eyes. The stark and colorful language characterized the entire piece beautifully. 2) Brutal and gritty, the story is very well written. It grabs you from the start and holds you until the end.Seems...

PMS Scones

In celebration of bleeding out of my holy orifice -- you're welcome -- I am going to share my recipe for PMS Scones with you. I've decided to call them that, even though they really could be called anything since I've jacked various parts of this recipe from various places, changed it around, and made it my own. Sorry not sorry.Ahem. These scones are semi-good-for-you and can be made better for you by making substitutions depriving them of flavor and desirability. Your call. This recipe is ea...
