Lara spends every waking moment either editing, writing or reading a book. For her day job, Lara is a professional editor (so she's usually combing through other authors' manuscripts), but as an avid writer, too, she just could not resist writing her own books!
Lara had an interesting childhood. On the one hand, she grew up on a good dose of Mills & Boon, Danielle Steel, and Nicholas Sparks novels, and her grade one teacher even wrote in her school report that, “Lara is obsessed with the notion of love!” While on the other hand, she had three brothers, two of which forced her to watch horror and slasher flicks from about age five. This involves going somewhere where my senses can take over. It could just be something simple, like if it's been raining. I go outside, close my eyes and breathe in everything - the aftermath of the rain on a lukewarm breeze, soaked wood, wet earth, and the wafting perfumes of wild flowers. I become my character and feel what they would feel in the scenario. Then, I write about it, and 9/10 times I've either just written my next scene or a whole new one or I'm inspired enough to go back inside and start typing away again!(less)
