Okay, so it has been a while… or a year.
Sorry about this guys, it has been a WHILE since I have been able to get back to my account. Here I am though. Let me recap since July 2017.
As most of my peeps know, I had my son in April of last year. He his fantastic and both my children are doing well. My daughter, who is home schooled, is a head of her class which is great! My son is trying to walk and is right now concentrated on breaking Mommy’s heart by growing up way too fast.
In the book world, things are going well. From now till 2019, I have Wintercrest books 1 and 2 re-release, book 3 and 4 release, Soul Antiquary which will be released on Aug 31st of this year and a total of 9 anthologies. Things are taking off! Finishing book 5 and 6, along with 2 other books (Macabre and another one that doesn’t have a title yet) will be a priority.
I find myself BUSY! I have signed with a new publisher and let me tell you, they are fantastic!!!
Talk more soon. promise I will try to keep up with this LOL.

Taking a break
Sometimes when you are writing your brain either freezes or stalls. Mine downright overheats! LOL. It is okay to take a break right?? I am working on some new stuff for a jewelry sale I have coming up, so my brain can rest for a bit. Soul Antiquary is 1/3 done and then I want to go back and finish book four of Wintercrest. GOALS…

Writing Paranormal v/s Fantasy
Shew, trying to switch from Fantasy to Paranormal is a kick in the pants! However, I am almost 1/4 of the way through my first Paranormal thriller. It is exciting. I very much enjoy the ghost world and mixing it with criminal investigation is a twist.
TAG LINE: What do you get when you get a freelance photographer, a paranormal investigator, a ghost and a serial killer together? Soul Antiquary!
Davin woke up startled from the nightmare. Drenched with sweat, he stood up and paced briskly around his bedroom. This made the third nightmare in a week and it was starting to get to him mentally. He ventured into the bathroom and stared at himself in the mirror. Leaning down, he threw water on his face to bring him back to reality and wiped it with a towel, returning his gaze to the mirror. However, staring back at him was not his reflection. The girl from his nightmares, tape over her mouth and green eyes bloodshot and bleeding. He screamed and turned around, peering cautiously around the room. His pulse was beating like a sledgehammer against his wrists.
“Who are you and what do you want from me??” He wailed loudly into the darkness beyond the bathroom door.
His nerves chilled, his breath thickened, and hair stood on end as he heard the window shatter and ran into the bedroom. Spinning and glancing to the floor, among the bloody shards, was spelled out…

Challenge!
So, I have been doing a challenge with my writing. I am currently working on about 6 books (yes, I am the scatterbrained mind that is always coming up with new ideas, but that is okay! Just gives me options so my brain and my stories don’t go stale!). In order to finish at least two this year and complete book four in the Wintercrest Chronicles as well, I set myself to a 30 day challenge: 3000 words/day/for 30 days. To my surprise, despite my obvious chaos of 2 kids and events and errands… I have actually completed that goal 12/15 days so far. Not too shabby!
Does anyone else do this with their writing when they need to crunch?? I enjoy challenging myself because then I don’t get lazy with my work OR get lost in a story line because I haven’t worked with it in ages. It also helps keep me on track so I don’t lose sites of my goals!
On a side note, I hit over 250 Twitter followers and am now working my way to 200 Facebook followers. Whoop! Life is good! Also, just a pretty picture.

Being an Author
Okay, so someone said to me, “I think being an author would be fun and exciting! And easier than having a job!”. HAHA! No.
I love being an author and I love writing. However, I think that a lot of people are mistaken on the easy part. It takes a lot of time and effort into being an author. There is so much more to it than sitting behind a computer and spilling your creative mind across a page like ink. (Although that is fun!) You have to have your heart and soul, and sometimes am arm and a leg, into your project. You have to work for it. Let me explain.
On an average day, I post on Twitter, Instagram, my blog (most of the time, which will get better now that I can remember I have one!!!), my Facebook page (either author page or personal page), and 10-12 groups for book promotion as well as word of mouth. My daily routine starts well before my two beautiful kids wake up (my daughter is 6 and being home schooled and my son is 3 months old). Usually around 6:30am. After they are up and food is delivered, diapers are changed and everyone is happy, I eat and start writing. I get about 500 words in before my son wants more mommy time (which I don’t mind in the slightest) and my daughter starts her school work (usually reading at this time). After hour one of school and baby loves, I might get in another 200-300 words. After that my house is chaos and I barely get 300 words in the rest of the day. At night, it is back to advertising on my pages, tweets and such. This is not mentioning all the errands.
Don’t get me wrong, being a stay at home mom is the best! I wouldn’t trade a moment of it for ANYTHING on this world! My hubby works two jobs while I am staying with our precious babies. (Which I appreciate him working so hard to support us and keep us in a good standing in life!) I also have a jewelry making business that keeps income coming in as well.
The common misconception that being a writer entails sitting in a big comfy chair and typing away all day in a relaxed manner is well over do to be thrown in the garbage disposal. Yes it is fun. Yes it is exciting! Yes it is a privilege that writers get to share their wonderful worlds with readers across the world! However, it isn’t easy. Putting creative ideas to work and on paper is… but the work behind the scenes of an author is not easy. It is hard work getting yourself and your books out to the world.
But…. it is all worth it.
