Autumn

Fall is here and it was 97 in my car yesterday.
We don't have fall in south Florida. If we are lucky, it will cool off and be 94 in the car. But, I'm serious--we don't have fall as people "up north" know it to be. Hurricane season ends on November 30, around the time that temperatures drop to 30 in the midwest and New England. And yes, I am jealous. I've lived in Florida for 16,937 days (approximately) or 46 years and 147 days (after being born and growing up in Wisconsin). It's hot and muggy in the summer; a little cooler in the fall; winter might bring us 5 or 6 cold days; and spring is pleasant when we are lucky. But yes, I stay here and think about how nice it would be to live in New England. Why? Because my family is here. But I escape by going to Vermont and Boston yearly; and through my writing. If you read my novel, "When Shadows Linger," you can travel to Middlebury, Vermont with me. If you have never been there, you will find the beauty to be magical; if you have visited Vermont, you will be able to refresh your memories of how it is; and if you are fortunate enough to live there, I think you will like my descriptions of your beautiful state.
