September Newsletter

Happy September!
How are you? No, really. How ARE you? This last few months have been so difficult for so many. I hope you're doing okay.

Books
This summer I've found it difficult to get into reading. I've failed to finish a number of books - no fault of the authors themselves - I've found it hard to settle on anything. But a couple of books which had me hooked to the very last page are Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton and Eight Detectives by Alex Pavesi. Considering how many distractions there are at the moment I take my hat off to these authors.

Cornwall
It's been all change Chez Jakeman. We moved to Cornwall! It was always on the cards but the Corona Virus gave us the kick we needed, and with the children not physically attending school we moved quickly. My husband was brought up here, so it feels like 'coming home'. As many of you will know, Safe House is set here and the book I'm currently writing is also set here.

Safe House
Talking of Safe House. Thank you for your patience. The paperback was originally scheduled for May but had to be rescheduled because of COVID-19 and the fact that most of the places you'd normally buy books had to close. It's hopefully (fingers crossed everybody) going to be released on January 21st. We're planning competitions/ giveaways for those of you pre-ordering the book - more of that in the next newsletter - so if you do pre-order it, keep your receipt!

Free short story
Thank you to those of you who have recently signed up for my newsletter. (www.jojakeman.com) You should have already received your free short story. And I'm truly grateful for those messages saying that you enjoyed it. I find it easier to write full length novels than short stories so I was nervous about whether you'd like this one!

Finally
The new book - Who Killed Oscar Lomas - is almost done. I'm editing it at the moment but it looks like it might be another year before it comes out. Waiting to hear definitively from my publishers. I'll keep you posted.

Keep well and I hope you're enjoying whatever it is you are reading at the moment,

Jo x
